Exercise
2 will begin to get your right hand familiar with the "rest
stroke". To execute this stroke properly you will push
through the string, not pick at the string. The motion of your
pick goes through the string at an angle that moves down towards
the fingerboard. It is called a "rest stroke" because
after you execute the stroke your pick will rest on the string
below the one you just picked. This is a very important concept
to grasp in flatpicking. Here you will execute this stroke on
all six strings in succession using all downstrokes.
